A family's need for more space inspires
a creative residential expansion.
Location: Charlotte, NC
Size: 1,000 sq. ft.
Located off of the Providence corridor in a very desirable neighborhood, the owners of this traditional two-story home were looking to create new, light-filled interiors that would function as an integral part of the existing floor plan. The 2-story 1,000 sq. ft. expansion includes a sunroom, recreation room, full bath and walk-in closet. A screened-in porch and new deck are also included in the design. The goals of the project included a plan which would cause minimal disruptions during construction and flawless integration of materials and design features to compliment the architecture of the existing house.

Garfinkel Residence
Capitalizing on stunning views of Lake James, the architecture of this home fulfilled a family's dream for a serene retreat.

Client: Steve & Darcy Garfinkel
The steep, natural terrain of this site afforded challenge and opportunity to the positioning of the home and resulted in breath-taking views and easy access to the lake below. The house and decks where placed as close as local ordinances would allows to the water.
Stone, shake siding, and color selection allows the structure to blend harmoniously into its natural wooded environment. The main floor of the house features a primary kitchen/great room space for entertaining with land and water views and access to exterior living spaces.
