On November 21st, the new Mecklenburg County Medical Examiners Office had its official ribbon cutting ceremony. This new facility which is approximately three times larger than the current facility will provide the resources for up to four procedures to be completed simultaneously. The new building which is 16,000-square-foot features state-of-the-art equipment and an outdoor serenity garden for grieving families. Through the use of sun shading, recycled materials and energy conscious mechanical equipment, the facility was designed and constructed using sustainable methods and is a USGBC LEED registered project. The County expects to be fully operating in the new building by the end of December.
